In what seems like the blink of an eye, a tiny helpless bundle is transformed into an active and inquisitive toddler. Baby portrait sessions are a wonderful way to capture your child’s first milestones and blossoming personality. From quirky smiles and giggles to the excitement of sitting, crawling, and… walking!!

 

Our style

Our custom portrait sessions are a unique and personalized experience. As parents ourselves, we know the importance of preserving your family’s most precious moments. We strive to make our baby sessions relaxed and enjoyable while capturing a variety of posed and candid portraits. Babies are encouraged to move around, play, and have fun! We love to document that infectious energy and charisma that brings so much joy to your lives. With an eye for perfect moments and unique perspectives, we create baby and family portraits that are beautiful, genuine, and emotional. We love getting to know each of our clients and creating one-of-a-kind art that you will treasure forever.

Scheduling

It’s never too early to book! Sessions fill up quickly, and it’s always best to contact us as soon as possible for an appointment. We recommend planning your baby portraits around the following milestones:
• 6 Months: Sitting, smiling, and starting to show their dynamic personality.
• 9 Months: On the move! Crawling, rolling, and giggles galore.
• 12 Months: Standing, cruising, taking first steps, and ready to take on the world.

 

On-location

Baby portraits may be captured in your home, or at an outdoor location of your choice. Home is a warm and cozy environment that allows us to incorporate meaningful settings, such as the nursery and common areas. We also love photographing baby and family portraits in the natural splendor of the outdoors. The vibrant colors and textures provide a stunning backdrop. Choosing a location that is special to your family is a wonderful way to add a personal touch to your images. We have lots of favorite locations, and we’re always happy to help you select the ideal setting for your shoot.

What to wear

Clothing is a key element for beautiful, timeless portraits. We love to photograph babies in a cute diaper cover, well-fitting favorite outfit, or a simple onesie. Clothes that have texture, like cable-knit sweaters, corduroy, lace, and ruffles photograph beautifully in baby portraits. As for Mommy and Daddy, we recommend simple, classic apparel that reflects your style. We love neutrals, creams, and soft pastel colors. Have fun with accessories and layers to add dimension to your portraits. Portrait session vs. mini session

Our portrait session is 1-1.5 hours, allowing plenty of time for outfit changes, meaningful props, and a large variety of concepts. Our premium portrait session clients are interested in an extensive selection of images to create albums and wall art clusters. As an alternative, our Mini Session with Daphne is a wonderful way to capture a smaller selection of portraits that focus on your baby, as well as some intimate family portraits. Mini Sessions are offered in our studio or Central Park.

Artistically edited

Art takes time!  But rest assured, it’s worth the wait.  For every minute we spend together with you, we spend hundreds more behind the scenes to make your portraits and overall experience exceptional.  Following your Family Portrait Session, we carefully compare the hundreds of images from your session to select the best ones from each concept — based on facial expressions, posing, lighting, sharpness, background, and overall appeal. These final images are each individually processed and enhanced into a true work of art.

Displaying your portraits

You will receive your private online gallery of beautifully edited baby and family portraits within 3-4 weeks of your session to make your order selections.  You’re of course welcome to share your gallery with family and friends.  Like most professional portrait photographers, we do not release RAW files, since these are merely the rough drafts essential to achieve your final portraits.  If you would like your products to arrive in time for a birthday or special occasion, please notify us in advance, and we will try our best to accommodate.  We are always happy to advise on creative ways to display your baby and family portraits.

We offer a variety of fine art prints, custom wall art, and keepsake albums to suit every client. Each product we offer has been selected for its quality craftsmanship, and the heirloom quality ensures that your custom art will be enjoyed for generations! We invite you to our Midtown studio for a personal design session. We encourage you to take measurements of where you plan to showcase your portrait art, so we can show how different wall art displays will look in your home.  We will consult you on options for displaying your baby and family portraits in creative and beautiful ways.  Whether you prefer a modern contemporary style or rustic chic, we’ll work together to ensure your portraits fit your home perfectly.

 

Expenses

I am happy to work on location in the US and abroad subject to mutually agreed

accommodation and travel arrangements. US Travel $0.45 per mile.

Models / studio hire / make-up / assistant /props, etc. – charged at cost and may be required in advance, depending on the scale of the shoot. Specialist equipment / camera hire will be charged in addition to the above if required for a particular shoot. Elaborate retouching will be charged by the hour if necessary to complete brief @ $60 per hour

Formats & Delivery

I use professional-quality Nikon camera equipment and lenses and Apple Macintosh computers for post-processing. If larger formats are required, this can be organized. Images can be delivered online via a secure server or on DVD and come with an agreement to use the images, with no individual licensing fees. Images may be used in US marketing and promotional material commissioned by your company. This allows you to use the images on your website, brochures and other US promotional material on a perpetual basis without additional cost

General Terms

Copyright of all images remains the property of Abacus Photography unless otherwise

arranged. Fees for advertising and similar promotional image use may be considerably higher

than the daily rate quoted above, depending on the scale of the campaign and where and how

the images will be used. Payment terms ~ Strictly 14 days from the date of invoice.

Payment Terms

Opt 1: Direct Debit Deposit of 50% (Fully Refundable*) up to one month prior to the day of the shoot day with balance on the day in CASH ONLY.

Opt 2:  Direct debit Two weeks prior to the day of the shoot  – Full payment

Opt 3:  Day of wedding: CASH ONLY – Full payment
